What is the Purpose of this Study?

Allergic Dermatitis is common in horses and can be caused by allergies, insect bites or underlying illnesses. Symptoms can be painful, uncomfortable, and could lead to infection. We are currently studying a potential new treatment for allergic dermatitis, so that horses can experience relief from harsh symptoms. This study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of this newly proposed treatment in horses who are currently diagnosed with allergic dermatitis.

What is a Clinical Study?

When Do I Have to Go to the Clinic?

There will be 3 treatment phases, each treatment phase being 28 days long with 2 observation weeks in between.

What Will Happen in the Study?

There will be:

  • Labwork
  • Physical Examinations
  • Assigned Treatment

Is My Pet Eligible to Enroll?

*Requirements for Eligibility to Participate Include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Horse is ≥ 12 months of age
  • Horse has a documented history of allergic dermatitis.
  • Horse is in good health
  • If horse has begun desensitization immunotherapy, must have been on immunotherapy for at least 12 months.
  • Horse cannot be receiving any other treatment for allergic dermatitis.

What Do I Have to Do?

Owner or their designee (Authorized Agent) are responsible for:

  • Having your horse available for the required visit schedule
  • Being available for follow-up phone calls scheduled by clinic personnel
  • Dosing according to a required schedule and monitoring your horse
  • Documenting any unusual observations regarding your horse during the study
  • Keeping a daily owner diary during the observation periods
  • Completing any required study forms
